Walking meditation path

"In a time long past, 2600 years ago, the great Bodhisattva Siddhartha Gautama, burdened by the suffering of countless beings trapped in the endless cycle of samsara, resolved to find liberation. With unwavering determination, he sat under the Bodhi tree on the ‘Vajrasana’ and achieved supreme enlightenment.

The pure and liberating truth discovered by the Buddha, the Tathagata, was silently witnessed by the Bodhi tree. Just as the wealthy Soththiya Brahmin offered eight piles of Kusathana, and Sujata, the daughter of a wealthy householder, offered milk rice to the future Buddha, so too do all of you, the noble disciples, engage in virtuous efforts to attain the path of liberation.

The ‘Vali Maluwa’ (walking meditation path) is a sacred space where we cultivate the qualities of detachment, loving-kindness, and wisdom. It is a place where we can let go of our attachments to the material world and find inner peace. May all beings be liberated from suffering through the power of this sacred offering. May the merit accumulated through this act of devotion benefit all sentient beings."*
